Kimberley Diamond Cup Promotes Gender Equality.

Great things coming out of the Kimberley Diamond Cup this past weekend - Samarria Brevard taking 1st in the women's street comp and Alana Smith making history with her backflip over the gap on the mini mega ramp. Alana competed against all guys and took 1st place.

Here is what we saw in mainstream media this morning:

"According to MEC John Block of the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the Kimberley Diamond Cup has definitely confirmed its position as a global brand. "We have seen participants from 37 different countries travelling to the Northern Cape to be part of this extraordinary experience. The event has shown significant growth and we're immensely proud of what we have achieved here. We were especially pleased to have added components that gave female skateboarders the chance to showcase their skills as the provincial government feels particularly strongly about promoting gender equality and creating opportunities for women to take their rightful place in society," mentions Block".

Let's hope more contest organizers can get on board with this idea!

Skateboarding Down The 405 Fwy.

2 years ago today I spent my morning jumping some fences, evading police, and have the ride of my life while skateboarding down the 405 fwy during Carmageddon.

Chasing Sunshine.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we think this new movie trailer CHASING SUNSHINE is a great way to start it off. Pro snowboarder Megan Pischke was diagnosed
with breast cancer in fall of 2012 - this film chronicles every detail of her difficult journey and what she learned about herself in the process.

Many thanks to Megan Pischke, The North Face and B4BC for making this remarkable film and creating awareness for women everywhere.

Chasing Sunshine will debut in January 2015 at the Winter X Games in Aspen.

Girls Supporting Girls.

“Girls supporting girls is the biggest and best thing we can do in sports or otherwise. When we stop pitting ourselves against each other we grow further, we get farther and we get stronger. If we walked into the world and complimented another woman every day, there would be no stopping us!” Cindy Whitehead

Thanks so much to Girls Unlimited for the feature article. We love that the lead picture in the piece is of GN4LW Team rider Beverly Flood blasting an air in her GN4LW x XS Helmets - they also discuss our collab skateboard with Dusters California.

Girls Unlimited is an anti bullying organization - something we totally believe in. You can read the rest of the article HERE
