It's another case of fashion x skateboarding - this time by the the Italian fashion house Emilio Pucci.
Working with art students to re-work some of their archival prints onto skateboard decks, the results are seen above. Cruiser and street decks are available and we have heard there is even a artsy video of this board release that involves a model and some skaters. We will keep our eyes peeled for that in case some female skaters we all know and love are showcased.
No word on the price of each board as of yet, but if past skate x fashion releases are any indication we are guessing at least $750 and up a piece, if it's a limited edition run... How's that for sticker shock? The boards launch on Monday so we will keep you posted.
What are your thoughts about fashion houses like Chanel & Pucci producing limited edition skateboards?
Do you think it's cool, or a fashion faux pas?

The Skateboarding World Championships at the Kimberley Diamond Cup kicked off today with the Women’s Street World Championships. Alexis Sablone (USA) topped Vanessa Torres (USA) and third place winner Leticia Bufoni (Brazil).
The Women’s Street Championships were the highlight of Day One and featured standout performances by Vanessa Torres and Leticia Bufoni, but it was Alexis Sablone, who ripped the entire course and claimed the Women’s Street World Championship title.
“I am super excited to have won,” said Alexis Sablone. “I loved it out here last year and this year was even more amazing. It was great skating with the girls since we came over on the same plane and spent about 15 hours together. I am just so happy to have landed the tricks I did. The time out on the course just goes faster than you can imagine. I am using my prize money to pay off my school fees as I am graduating this year and hopefully there will be some left to spoil myself.”
“Last year, we brought women into the Skateboarding World Championships and it’s something that has been such an incredible inspiration to girls around the world,” said McFerran. “Having this championship here in South Africa where they just celebrated Women’s Month is especially meaningful. One of the skaters was 9-year-old Davatta Boipelo, who compete alongside these top female skaters. Boipelo is from right here in Kimberley and learned to skate here at the Kumba Skate Plaza when she was six years old. I hope to one day see Boipelo or another South African girl compete alongside these incredible skaters like Alexis and Vanessa in the Olympics. I know it will happen. Skateboarding is just exploding here in South Africa and we’re looking forward to expanding internationally, so we can bring world-class skate events and year-round programs to new destinations and communities who can benefit from skateboarding.”
The women’s championships took on added significance with the recent news that skateboarding is among the top contenders to be considered for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Skating in sweltering heat at the world-class Kumba Skate Plaza in the Northern Cape capital of Kimberley, both Murray and the 9-year old Awuah qualified for the Women’s Street World Championships taking place on Thursday.
26-year-old Murray has been skating for eight years and admits to being very nervous about skating with some of her icons. “Since I got a board for Christmas, I have been following these girls on the internet and watching them skate. It is exciting, yet nerve-wracking to think about going up against them.
The women’s street roster includes Americans Alana Smith, Alexis Sablone, Elissa Steamer, Lacey Baker, Marissa Dal Santo and Vanessa Torres, Aura Bredart from Belgium, Brazilians Gabriella Mazetto and Leticia Bufoni as well as Kat Williams from Australia and Russian Kate Shengeliya.
Stay tuned for more results!

She just won the Nike SB Street League World Championships this past weekend so it's perfect timing to see Leticia Bufoni featured in the October Issue of Nylon Magazine talking about everything from filming her part in the new PUSH video, to being a featured skater in the new Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 game that was just released.
But we think her best quote is when asked what her objective is, she answered "I want to skate forever". Best answer ever.
Join Brighton Zeuner, Annika Vrklan, Nicole Hause and Alana Smith as they have the BEST DAY EVER at Walt Disney World. They’re each looking for skateboard art inspiration, thrill rides and even some shopping. Stay tuned to see how the skateboards turn out!!!

If you caught the action last year at KDC, you may remember that Alana Smith (USA) stole the event with her back-flip on the mini mega ramp which sealed the deal for her first place win - the fact that she was competing against all guys made the win that much sweeter.
The women skate street on Thursday, October 8 and here is a list of the girls that were invited.
We love seeing our girls from the USA competing, but it's also nice to see skaters from other parts of the world like Kate Shengeliya from Russia, Aura Bredart from Belgium, Kat Williams from Australia, and Gabriella Mazetto from Brazil that we don't get to see in comps here in the USA too often.
Its going to be a great contest!

The women were going OFF today during Nike SB Street League Super Crown Championships, but at the end after 2 rounds and a best trick contest, Leticia Bufoni emerged as the winner and earned a check for $30,000.
The girls were taking a lot of falls but we absolutely loved seeing Vanessa Torres land a solid lipside 5 0 to fakie during the "best trick" part of contest. That was a major highlight.
Congrats to all the women for bringing it and working hard to put in a good showing at this historic event.

Rayssa Neal is one of our favorite new female skaters on the scene. You may remember her from the video that went viral where she does a heel flip while wearing a fairy costume. She's now out there competing and is now the Street Skate Mirim, 2015 Champion in Brazil.
How's that for RAD?
She's also a strong role model for women in skateboarding - Rayssa is already answering back to her own aunt and grandmother who say "Skateboarding is not for girls" Her reply? "Skating is indeed a girl thing!"
Go Rayssa!!

Big news this week with skateboarding now being on the short list for the 2020 games. It's been the talk of the skateboard world to some extent, and a subject people are extremely passionate about. We have heard the "for" comments from skaters like Shaun White & Tony Hawk, and also people in the skateboarding community that say "hell no, we don't want skateboarding in the Olympics. Ever.".
But one thing we haven't discussed is how this proposal has already had an extremely positive impact on women's skateboarding. And it definitely has.
While it's still up in the air as to which discipline of skateboarding would be the one selected (vert, bowl or street) we have already seen street skateboarding make a move to be the forerunner.
This weekend we will see the inclusion of women competing in Street League for the very first time. And it won't be a women's event where you have to wait for someone to either Periscope, add it to Facebook, or see clips on instagram. You will be able to watch it live, just like the men's events. The women that were selected to compete in Street League have been seen on Street League's site in profiles, videos and mentioned in the announcements for the comp. That's great exposure for women in our sport.
In women's vert we have seen changes too - Allysha Bergado recently started riding for Creature, and the super positive announcement they put out to announce her team rider status was pretty mind blowing. When a male dominated company shows the world, with no hesitation, that they support an amazing pro female skater - that says a lot. And proves that positive change for women in our sport is really happening.
That all might seem like normal stuff for people outside the action sports realm, but those of us involved in the sport, we all know this is a huge milestone. One that us girls who competed in the pro vert divisions in the 1970's have been waiting for forever.
So why are we seeing these huge and positive changes? It could be because it's seriously way overdue, but more than likely it's due to the serious talk of skateboarding being included in the 2020 games and changes need to be made now to make sure that happens.
The Olympics have this amazing rule. Any new sport that is added must include men and women's divisions. So if one of the three federations in skateboarding, vying for control moving into the Olympics, wants to be considered, they need to show that women are already being included and set the stage so that the women can participate in qualifying through a series of events, once the time comes.
So it really doesn't matter if you are pro or con about skateboarding being included in the 2020 Olympics, just know that even the talk of it, has already helped women's skateboarding by leaps and bounds.
And that is a GREAT thing.
Congrats to team rider Minna Stess who is featured in the "Rider Set Ups" section of the Fall issue of Concrete Wave Magazine. Minna talks about what she rides from head to toe, and why. She is the youngest rider featured in the "Rider Set Ups" section and the only vert skater - pretty cool!
Huge thanks to photographer Todd Fuller for taking this rad shot of Minna that was featured in the issue!
Looks like one fashion designer at London's fashion week merged his love of sequins with skateboards. Ashish Gupta, a Delhi born designer had models skateboarding down the catwalk rather than walking during London fashion week. It unfortunately didn't go so well for one model who's dress slipped while skating...
But overall it looks like the models made it down the runway and back with out any other mishaps.
All I can say is if that's the worst mishap you have skateboarding, you are doing pretty well!
Huge congrats to Badass Skatemom Judi Oyama!
Judi Oyama tarins hard. In between being a mom, taking care of her family and running her two businesses, Maximum Impact Design, and her newest venture, a clothing line called Badass Skatemom, she finds time to do what she loves - skateboarding. And all that hard work and training paid off.
This weekend at the World Championships of Slalom in Ashton, Kentucky 54 year old Judi Oyama took 1st in all three events she entered, Giant Slalom, hybrid slalom and tight slalom, and brought home her second world championship. She is now ranked number 2 in the world for masters women with 1,357 point.
Huge congrats Judi - you are exactly what Badass Skatemom stands for!!
It may be an ad for Lexus but it's still pretty inspiring to watch... Have a great weekend no matter what, or where you skate!
