The Women's SLS Super Crown World Champion is....
Lacey Baker Wins!
How the final scores looked for the Women's comp
The SLS Course
How the judging is calculated

Here are the results from tonight's Women's SLS Super Crown World Championships.

Big congrats to Lacey Baker for taking the win and $30,000, as well as a custom G-Shock watch!  During the best trick portion of the contest it was a battle between Lacey Baker, Leticia Bufoni, and Alexis Sablone right down to the end. And we have to give props to Leticia Bufoni for going for huge on her last trick - she took a HUGE slam during a frontside lipslide  gap to rail and we hope she is doing OK, as she wasn't able to make it to the podium. It was gnarly to say the least - the girl totally went for it.

RESULTS

1st    Lacey Baker
2nd  Leticia Bufoni
3rd   Alexis Sablone
4th   Mariah Duran
5th   Aori Nishimura
6th   Alana Smith
7th   Pamela Rosa
8th   Monica Torres

Stay tuned to watch the men's comp at streetleague.com

Looks like there are more surprises in store tonight for the SLS Super Crown Women's Competition than just who ends up on the podium...

Unfortunately one of our favorite street skaters, Vanessa Torres is out due to an ACL injury,  and skating in her place will be 15 year old ripper, Aori Nishimura from Japan.

The good news is, you will still see get to see (and hear) Vanessa, as she will helping to announce the women's event tonight. Another breakthrough for women in skateboarding!

It's going to be an amazing evening, so don't forget to tune in at 5:20 PM PT / 8:20 PM ET on Streetleague.com
Mariah Duran Goes Pro For Meow Skateboards.

Besides the premiere of Monique O Toole and Erik Sandoval's new all girl skateboard film, Quit Your Day Job, last night in Los Angeles, the big news of the night was the surprise announcement that skateboarder Mariah Duran turned Pro, and Meow Skateboards is releasing her new "Whiskers" pro model board just in time for the SLS Super Crown event that Mariah will be competing in this Sunday.  Congrats Mariah!

Btw - her part in the Quit your Day Job movie was SICK!

Luxury Line Hermès Embraces Skater Girls.

"Welcome to the Hermès Skatepark. Glide gracefully wearing these reversible Maxi-twilly cut scarves as the whim takes you."

Wow!  High fashion Paris based luxury brand,  Hermès has incorporated girls who skateboard into their latest video for their Maxi-Twilly scarf collection. Looks like they also did the scarf graphics on the boards... But no news on whether Hermes is also launching a high end board line or not - for now it looks like its just for the video.

If anyone knows who the skater girls are, please let us know!

Skateboarder Minna Stess On Motherland Today.

Check out GN4LW team rider Minna Stess on MOTHERLAND today - here is a quote from her article.

Why do you think skating is seen primarily as a boys thing?

"I really don’t know. My family had never pointed that out to me so I was kind of surprised to find that out. I think skateboarding can be for anyone if they want to skate it doesn’t matter who or what they are. They just have to be willing to fall and fly."

Another awesome meet up by LA Girls Skate Sesh - this time it was at Westchester Skatepark. Seeing these female skateboarders of all ages come out, encourage one another, and basically take over a skatepark was great. They played a game of skate, did tricks off the 5 stair and gave out prizes. But the main thing was getting together, skating hard and having fun as a group.

We also had our friends from Dogeared Jewelry visit today and gift all of the girls with a Dogeared necklace of their choice. Every girl picked out something different that fit their personality - see the some of rthe rad little necklaces each girl picked above - super cool stuff!

Huge thanks to Jazzmen who puts on these sessions, all you are doing for girls in skateboarding is greatly appreciated!

Follow @lagirlsskatesesh on instagram to see when/where the next meet up will be and make sure you mark your calendar because these skate sessions are always rad!

Street League - 8 Girls Have Been Selected To Compete.

all info and video via Street League

In a little over two weeks, eight of the best female skaters in the world will be competing at the second ever SLS Women’s Competition at the Super Crown in Los Angeles. With the biggest purse in female professional skateboarding on the line, this competition is certain to be fierce. Last year, Leticia Bufoni barely edged out Vanessa Torres for first place with a 360 flip over the wedge gap. It’s anyone’s guess who will come up on top in 2016.

Lacey Baker is one of the most respected female skaters in the world, but she could not reel in her noseslide nollie heelflip out at last year’s Super Crown. She’s definitely someone to look out for this year. Both Pamela Rosa and Alexis Sablone have had phenomenal years on the contest circuit in 2016—we’ll see if that momentum going into SLS helps either one of these ladies take home first place.

With $30,000 on the line, these women will certainly be giving it their all. Check out the full roster below.

Leticia Bufoni
Lacey Baker
Pamela Rosa
Alexis Sablone
Vanessa Torres
Alana Smith
Mariah Duran
Monica Torres

You can watch this years SLS Women Competition on our international webcast on streetleague.com on October 2nd at 8:20 PM ET / 5:20 PM PT.

In partnership with FS1, the Women’s contest will also have it’s own dedicated one-hour special telecast on FS1 and FOX Sports GO on Sunday, October 9th at 7:30 PM ET / 4:30 PM PT in the USA.

Don’t miss your chance to see this all go down in person and get your tickets while you still can!

It's a huge all girls skate contest that girls from all over come  to compete at.  We have heard its a really good time, so make sure you show up to skate, or  even just to watch and support the girls who are skating in it.

Our team rider Poppy Starr Olsen will be there competing and we wish her the best of luck!

Do What You Love! Featuring Artist Priscilla Witte.

all illustrations by Priscilla Witte

A pure case of doing what you love, and how it pays off.  Meet Priscilla Witte, she's California cool and she does rad illustrations for a living. She may have been born and raised in upstate NY, but once she moved to Southern California in her early twenties she fell  in love with the weather, the "you can be whoever you want to be" attitude, and the lifestyle, and her path was clear. Illustration and drawing was it.

You've probably seen her work in and around LA - on various walls in the arts district, or in places like Urban Outfitters, and rad coffee houses and cafe's in Venice.  Once you spy one piece of her work you will be on the hunt for more - guaranteed!

We are totally in love with all of her work, especially her skate art - like the pieces above that were done for Zefr Inc.

Make sure you check out her Tumblr  , and follow her on Instagram  @pcwitte for more radness!

Pro Skater Lizzie Armanto in New Vans Ad.
Teen Vogue / September Issue

Nice to see an ad in Teen Vogue Magazine featuring a female skater who is actually skating. Huge shout out to Vans for running a full page ad for the original Sk8-HI Vans with Lizzie Armanto in the September issue of the mag.

For people in the fashion industry, September is THE issue to be in - it traditionally has the highest circulation of any other issue, so it's great to see Lizzie showing readers that girls do shred.  Just to note, a full page ad in this particular magazine is not inexpensive. At all. So this was a big statement.

This kind of female skater support from a major company shows that girls skateboarding is making huge progress! Vans is paving the way!!
