In case you haven't heard...Olympic news for LA28

LA28 announced this past week that the International Olympic Committee approved a proposal to include skateboarding and surfing into the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

After being introduced in the Tokyo 2020 Games, and then being added as additional sports for Paris 2024, the inclusion of surfing and skateboarding in LA2028 helps surfing and skateboarding move forward in cementing their place as permanent Olympic sports.

Awesome news, and we are so glad that break-dancing wasn't on the menu...

In other news, LA28 has been giving Olympic and Paralympic athletes like Simone Biles, Chloe Kim and Scout Bassett as well as celebrities like singer Billie Eilish, chef Roy Choi, and Bobby Hundreds  the opportunity to design the "A" in the LA28 logo for the Olympics.

The latest athlete asked  to do so is Sky Brown. Sky picked a palm tree and skateboard for her idea of welcoming skateboarding into the LA28 Olympics

Naomi Premieres On The CW Tonight (did we mention she's a skateboarder?).

Tonight is the premier of the new CW TV show, NAOMI, and we have to say, this show is definitely worth watching!

Below is everything you need to know.

From Oscar® nominee/Emmy® winner Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship (“Arrow”), and starring Kaci Walfall (“Army Wives,” “Power,” “The Lion King” on Broadway) in the title role, the DC drama NAOMI follows the journey of a cool, confident, comic book–loving teenager as she pursues her hidden destiny.

When a supernatural event shakes her hometown of Port Oswego to the core, Naomi (Kaci Walfall) sets out to uncover its origins, with a little help from her fiercely loyal best friend Annabelle (Mary-Charles Jones, “Kevin Can Wait”). She also has the support of her adoptive, doting parents, veteran military officer Greg (Barry Watson, “7th Heaven,” “The Loudest Voice”) and linguistics teacher Jennifer (Mouzam Makkar, “The Fix”). After an encounter with Zumbado (Cranston Johnson, “Filthy Rich”), the mysterious owner of a used car lot, leaves her shaken, Naomi turns to tattoo parlor owner Dee (Alexander Wraith, “Orange Is the New Black”), who becomes her reluctant mentor. While unfolding the mystery about herself, Naomi also effortlessly navigates her high school friendships with kids on the military base as well as well as local townies, including ex-boyfriend and high school jock Nathan (Daniel Puig); Annabelle’s longtime, loyal boyfriend Jacob (Aidan Gemme); proud “townie” Anthony (Will Meyers, “Bad Education”); and fellow comic book enthusiast Lourdes (Camila Moreno), who works in a vintage collectible shop. As Naomi journeys to the heights of the Multiverse in search of answers, what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.

 And she SKATEBOARDS!

Based on the characters from DC, NAOMI is written and executive produced by Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship (“Arrow”), and executive produced Paul Garnes of ARRAY Filmworks. Amanda Marsalis (“Echo Park,” “Queen Sugar”) directed and co-executive produced the pilot episode. The series is from ARRAY Filmworks in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Skate Bud Partners with Los Angeles Library For New Skate Video Series!

We love this new "Doin' Tricks" video from Zach at Skate Bud in conjunction with the Los Angeles Library. There is a whole series - so watch them all as they show up on the Los Angeles Library YouTube Channel!

We love that this segment features our team rider Mazel Alegado as well as the rad Adrianne Sloboh.

Welcome to skateboarding. Anyone in the world can learn this awesome activity. But you're special because you can learn it in Los Angeles. When you skate in L.A., you take part in one of the most amazing and impactful cultures our city has ever created.

You want multicultural, DIY, built-by-minorities, established outside the graces of a regressive mainstream, no rules, no hierarchy, and inclusive for all people? Skateboarding is it! Skateboarding is the only art difficult enough to be mistaken for a sport, and many of the most legendary innovators created incredible work a stone’s throw from a library branch, and in many cases, skateboard history has actually been made at libraries.

The L.A. Library’s central branch entrance tells us: “Books invite all, and constrain none,” and we want to ensure that you have the same experience with skateboarding. This series of videos is a way to open the door to a culture that is already inviting you and connect you to the riches and wonders made by skaters who look like you, in the community where you live.

We’ll give you insight, techniques, and terminology, introduce you to friends who hang out in places near you, and help you get comfortable with an instrument that is kinda hard to learn, really fun to play, and everywhere you could ever want to go in Los Angeles!
