We were stoked to be invited to cover AEG and Activision’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 collaboration launch party at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles tonight. It seemed like just about everyone in skateboarding came out for this launch party and it did not disappoint! There was a game room where you could play the new game, a full bar, DeBop was there with rad thrifted clothing and artist Neckface, was creating art on the clothes, in real time, as well as live performances. So much to take in!

Activision also hosted a livestream event for the public, featuring live performances by Danny Brown, Lupe Fiasco, Adolescents, and Urethane - all of whom are featured on the game’s official soundtrack. Hosted by Selema Masekela, Nora Vasconcellos, who recently joined the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 skater roster and Steezus, the event also featured appearances by some of the new and returning skaters to the game’s line up including Chloe Covell, Aurélien Giraud, Leo Baker, Kareem Campbell, Geoff Rowley, Tony Hawk and many more.

Iconic venues owned and  operated by AEG Presents are featured in the game. Most notably, The El Rey Theatre exterior was digitally recreated to live permanently in the Los Angeles level of the game. Goldenvoice, the premiere California promoter and subsidiary of AEG Presents, and The Roxy, one of Los Angeles’s most storied and celebrated venues, will be featured on in-game billboards throughout the Los Angeles level of the game.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – X Games Salt Lake City 2025 is dialing it up for its 30th anniversary with a weekend that blends action sports, music, and culture like never before. From June 27-29, the Utah State Fairpark and Event Center will play host to the world’s top Moto X, BMX, and Skateboard athletes – and now, two iconic music acts have been added to the lineup.  

 JUST ANNOUNCED: deadmau5 and Sublime will perform live on Friday and Saturday night. These special concerts will follow the finals each evening, transforming the venue into a full-on celebration of sport and sound.

A pioneer in electronic music and a global festival headliner, deadmau5 brings his unmistakable sound and immersive visuals to Salt Lake City for one night only.

X Games Japan just released the invited athlete list; the mix is insane! From street to park to vert, some big names are competing, and we can’t wait to watch!

We are super excited that GN4LW team rider Mia Kretzer from Australia will compete in women’s vert!

This year, X Games Japan will take place in Osaka rather than Chiba, where it has been held in the past.

The action will take place from June 21-22, 2025.

Team USA Announcement 2022 Olympics - Photo Ian Logan

We had a feeling that this would happen at some point.

World Skate has laid down some new rules that are rolling out this year and culminate in an age requirement for the Olympics in 2028.

Skateboarders keep getting younger and younger at each Olympics (and Qualifiers), and the podium reads like a middle school/high school honor roll. We absolutely love seeing the progression in women’s park and street and it is a fact that the younger girls are now leading the way. The women who came before them paved the way and now these pre-teens know that anything is possible - and they are going for it!

So, here is how the new age requirement reads in a nutshell.

If you are turning 11 years old this year (2025) you will then be age 14 during the year 2028 for the next Olympics in Los Angeles. Fourteen is now the new minimum age requirement to compete in skateboarding at the Olympics.

There is NO ruling saying you must be 14 by the date of the actual games (as in some other Olympic sports) just that you turn 14 during 2028. So realistically we could still have a 13 year old on the podium!

This year any skateboarder who is not 11 years old in 2025, will be removed from the World Skate Ranking and not allowed to participate in any World Skate sanctioned events.

Team rider Zoe Herishen has been throwing this awesome event forever! Girls come from all different states to have fun and enjoy skating together, meet new friends and enjoy all the festivities Zoe has planned. There are give-a-ways, food, prizes and so much more. This is the 10th year and we just know this one will be the biggest yet - so you don;t want to miss it!

The countdown is on! In less than three months, the highly anticipated X Games Salt Lake City is set to take over the Utah Fairpark & Event Center from June 27-29, and the excitement is building! In honor of Women’s History Month, Todd Huber of Skateboard Hall of Fame invited all of the female inductees to come out to the museum and spend the day together, have lunch, meet fans and speak on a panel. It was amazing to see sixteen of the inductees at this event. They ranged from 60s to 80s skateboarding - when skateboarding was in its infancy!

There were so many female driven stories of what it was really like for the women from the 60s to the 80s in skateboarding who paved the way for future generations! Truly inspiring.

We have been following Imilla Skate on IG for awhile now and love these women! So we wee very excited when we heard that Vans was dropping a doc on their female skate collective!

This dropped on International Women’s Day - Vans is saluting Imilla Skate, a collective of Indigenous women from Bolivia who challenge gender stereotypes through skateboarding—tearing down the notoriously steep streets wearing traditional pollera skirts.

For them, skateboarding is more than a sport—it’s a statement of resilience and empowerment in a machismo society. And now, they’re building a skate park and community center to inspire the next generation.

The Rockstar Energy Open Returns to Portland for Another World-Class Skateboarding Event This August

Expanding on Last Year’s Success, the Rockstar Energy Open Continues to Amplify Skateboarding Culture with a Free Weekend of Top-Tier Competition, Music, Art, and More

We just want to mention that after all the Olympic Qualifiers, and the Olympics, it felt really great to see the vibe of a true skate contest - where it wasn’t about strategy and points. Skaters were just going for it and having a blast - this contest felt like skateboarding at its core are we are stoked it’s back!

Portland, Ore. (March 19, 2025) – Rockstar Energy is thrilled to announce the return of the Rockstar Energy Open, August 15-17, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. Building on the momentum of its groundbreaking inaugural event, which attracted 25,000 fans and featured more than 100 skaters, this year’s Rockstar Energy Open will once again transform Downtown Portland’s historic Waterfront Park into the epicenter of skateboard culture. The event will bring together the world’s best skateboarding pros, emerging talent, and die-hard fans for another unforgettable three-day experience alongside Rockstar athletes such as two-time Olympic gold medalist, Keegan Palmer, fan-favorite, Chris Joslin, and defending Men’s Street Final champion, Lazer Crawford.

The Rockstar Energy Open provides a global stage for top street and park skateboarders, offering custom-built courses designed to showcase the highest level of progression and creativity. The event will once again feature an inclusive Video Qualifying Series (VQS) on ThePlatfrm.com, giving skaters worldwide the opportunity to earn their spot to compete alongside the best invited pro skateboarders.

Starting June 2, 2025, skaters can submit their video parts for the chance to be selected to compete in Portland. Weekly cash prizes will be given out over the course of the seven-week VQS for best men’s and women’s video parts, overall best trick, and viewer’s choice. The same world-class judges attending the Rockstar Energy Open will judge the VQS and determine who secures a coveted spot in Portland. Growing up in the 70s with Gale Webb was every skateboarders dream. She wasn’t just a badass, she was inspiring to all of us. Gale put us in her skate shows, she reminded us to be better people and of course, to stay off of drugs. Gale Webb taught me so much about giving back to the next generation, and using your platform to help others.

We can’t wait to see the premier of this amazing documentary on Gale’s life.

The WST is back and we are delighted to officially announce the 2025 schedule for the World Skateboarding Tour!

Part of World Skate’s world cups offering, the World Skateboarding Tour has been successfully running for the past 3 seasons and served as the sole qualification pathway to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Italy, Japan and the USA will all host WST stops, beginning in Europe in June 2025 before heading to North America in September and then touching down in Asia at the end of November.

The cities of Rome, Washington DC and Kitakyushu will be our hosts on a new year of the tour mixing traditional favourites with new locations as the WST continues to traverse the globe, bringing new adventures to all as we go!

Three of our team riders, Brooke Benton, Francesca Shuda and Anna Shea headed out to Lake Havasu last weekend to compete in the CASL National Championships. Not only did they all make podium in their respective divisions, they cheered on their friends and competitors throughout the weekend, proving that skateboarding is more about the friends you meet and make than standing on podium. We are so proud of them in every way!

We also heard that all three went to Vegas to celebrate their wins - way to roll girls!!

After spending so many years covering the Vans Girls Combi Pool Party we were so sad to hear that this would be the very last event (combining men’s, women’s, legends and masters in one day) before the park was demolished. On top of that sad news, Ian and I were both sick, so we had to say good-bye from afar. Luckily, photographer Lauren Brooke generously offered to share her awesome photos from the women’s event and we were able to watch clips from friends as well as a Live Stream from Bucky Lasek on YouTube.
