CHIBA, Japan (July 5, 2026) – MoonPay X Games Chiba 2026 wrapped up a weekend filled with elite competition and cheering crowds at Makuhari Messe. Featuring more than 80 action sports athletes representing 16 countries, the event is the second stop of the new MoonPay X Games League (XGL). X Games Club (XC) Tokyo leaves Chiba tied with XC New York at the top of the standings with 1,770 points. XC São Paulo is in third place with 1,610 and XC Los Angeles rounds out the standings with 1,510 points.

With a women’s-competition-first alley-oop one-foot 540, 11-year-old Mia Kretzer (XC LA) won her second gold medal in Women’s Skateboard Vert Best Trick. She earned the gold medal two years ago at X Games Ventura 2024 that made her the youngest X Games athlete, youngest medalist, and youngest gold medalist at age 9. She closes X Games Chiba with 360 points on the board for her club. “It’s the best,” Kretzer said of the new X Games League. “I get to connect with people I don’t usually get to connect with. Being on a team with Tom Schaar is really cool, and Haze is the best manager. Team LA!” She is smashing all the X Games age records, and is now the first athlete to win three gold before turning 13.

Misuho Hasegawa (XC Tokyo) was the oldest athlete on the podium at 15 years old. She held the lead after Run 2, then was bumped to silver medal position with Kretzer’s third run. Judges liked Mizuho’s Cab heelflip Indy in Run 4 better than her earlier make, a kickflip hand flip Indy, but the upgrade didn’t improve her position. She now owns nine total X Games medals: By the close of the Vert Best Trick contest, Hasegawa’s 360 points had her atop the XGL points standings. 13-year-old Reese Nelson (Free Agent) took bronze with a switch kickflip boardslide to regular in Run 3 for her second medal in the discipline and third X Games medal.

Momiji Nishiya (XC NY) landed a crooked grind nollie heelflip in Run 4 to win gold. The trick was an X Games first, earning both the gold medal and the $10,000 MoonPay X Games NBD Award. The 18-year-old was unable to compete at X Games Sacramento. After finishing 8th in Women's Street on Saturday in Chiba, bouncing back with gold in Street Best Trick made for a sweet redemption and a return to the podium three years after her most recent previous medal. “I’m very happy that I was able to contribute to the team,” she said. With her first Street Best Trick medal, Nishiya now owns five X Games medals. Her résumé extends beyond X Games. At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she won gold just one month shy of her 14th birthday, becoming Japan's youngest-ever Olympic champion and the third-youngest Olympic gold medalist in history.

Speaking of age, Funa Nakayama (Free Agent) was the oldest competitor in the contest at 21. She was one of three women skaters competing at X Games Chiba who weren’t teens. The only undrafted athlete in the field proved she belonged. Riding first in the lineup, she patiently battled through the contest before landing a backside heelflip down the 5-flat-6 double set on her fifth attempt (Run 7) to earn silver. Surrounded by seven talented Japanese skaters, Australian Chloe Covell (XC NY) stood her ground, battling her way to bronze in Women's Street Best Trick. The 16-year-old landed a crooked grind to nollie heelflip out of the hubba ledge on her fourth attempt (Run 7), securing her 11th career X Games medal. The bronze boosted her X Games League campaign, bringing her to 260 points for XC New York.

In her first return to the top of the X Games Park podium in four years, 17-year-old star Sky Brown (XC São Paulo) took an early Run 1 lead and improved in Run 2, fending off a challenge from Mizuho Hasegawa (XC Tokyo). “I don’t have a lot of words, I am very happy, especially to win in my hometown in Japan, with my mom here and my family here cheering me on,” she said. “It’s very special.” This was Brown’s first X Games Park gold medal since her wins in 2021 and 2022. It's her fifth medal overall. Brown now has 180 points on the board for XC São Paulo after Chiba, and is ranked #21 in the XGL athlete standings. It’s the second-highest rank among single-discipline competitors, behind Sacramento and Chiba BMX Street gold medalist Garrett Reynolds. “All week I have been cheering on all of the team, and I felt the need to get this medal for them and represent them well,” she said. “I am very happy to have done that!”

Hasegawa’s silver medal Park points, combined with her points haul in Vert and Vert Best Trick between Sacramento and Chiba, leave her in first place in the X Games League overall standings, in strong position to challenge for season MVP honors. Heili Sirviö (XC NY) made the podium with bronze after a disappointing eighth place finish in Sacramento, which was the X Games Salt Lake City gold medalist and X Games Chiba 2024 bronze medalist’s only time missing the podium from four starts.

Day 1 - Women’s Skateboard Park

Sixteen-year-old Australian skateboarder Arisa Trew (XC Tokyo) continued her remarkable rise in Women's Skateboard Park, capturing her ninth career X Games gold medal and 10th overall medal with a winning Run 2 score of 92.66. Her best run showcased a deep bag of tricks on the Tower Bridge extension and throughout the park, including a 540 onto the extension, frontside 50-50, frontside tailslide, backside 360, frontside Smith grind, backside 540 over the channel, and a standout switch McTwist—an element no rider, male or female, has landed in park competition.

“I’m just super happy that I can be a part of inspiring the next generation of riders,” said Trew. “I’ve always been a competitive person, and I always want to do my best and push myself to the next level. Getting a triple gold is a big goal of mine. I’ve had two years to try to do it and I want to get to there.”

Sky Brown (XC São Paulo) earned silver with an 85.00, highlighted by a frontside nosegrind tailgrab on the Tower Bridge extension, Madonna, kickflip frontside air over the jump box, and a backside 540 over the hip, while Raicca Ventura (XC São Paulo) secured bronze with a consistent 81.00 run featuring Indy airs, Smith grinds, a backside 360 over the bump, and a 50-50 on the rainbow rail to round out a highly competitive final.

Teen skateboard phenom Arisa Trew (XC Tokyo) continued her dominance in women’s skateboarding, following up Friday’s Women’s Skateboard Park gold with another victory in Skateboard Vert Best Trick. The win marked her second gold medal of the weekend and 10th career X Games gold, tying her with Lindsey Jacobellis for the most X Games gold medals by a woman in X Games history. It also tied Trew with Gui Khury (XC São Paulo) for the most X Games medals ever earned by a teenager. Trew’s Switch McTwist in Run 1 proved untouchable, holding up as the winning trick throughout the competition and securing yet another milestone in her career.

“The Switch McTwist was my safety trick and it went well because I got it for my first try,” said Trew. “I was really trying to get my switch body varial 5 because I never landed it before, but I didn't get it, unfortunately!”

Trew's new teammate, 15-year-old Mizuho Hasegawa (XC Tokyo) earned silver with a massive alley-oop judo 540 in her first run, soaring approximately six feet above the vert ramp, while 11-year-old Mia Kretzer (XC LA) rounded out the podium with bronze, landing a stylish one-foot McTwist.

Day 3 - Monster Energy Women’s Skateboard Street Final

The first showdown of the day featured a stacked field of eight elite women ranging in age from 14 to 28–but it was the teenagers that took the spotlight today. Nineteen year old MoonPay X Games League free agent call up Miyu Ito (XC Tokyo) claimed gold with a technical, high-scoring run featuring a frontside boardslide on the handrail, 5-0 on the quarterpipe, backside tailslide on the box, blunt stall 180 out on the quarterpipe, frontside bluntslide on the A-frame rail, kickflip up the step-up, and frontside feeble grind on the handrail. The standout performance earned Ito her fifth career X Games medal and second X Games gold.

"I wanted to pick my lines smoothly and execute them as much as I could. I'm very happy. Each and every trick I did was specific, so I wanted to make each one as perfect as possible," said Ito.

Sixteen year old defending Women's Skateboard Street champion and No. 1 MoonPay X Games League draft pick Chloe Covell (XC New York) claimed silver, earning the ninth X Games medal of her career.

Liz Akama (XC Los Angeles) made a triumphant return to X Games competition after missing 2025 with an ankle injury, capturing bronze in her first appearance in two years. The 17-year-old has now reached the podium in seven of her last eight X Games starts across Women's Skateboard Street and Women's Skateboard Street Best Trick.

Widely recognized for having one of the cleanest kickflips in skateboarding, Miyu Ito (XC Tokyo call-up) captured her second X Games gold medal of the weekend, winning with a frontside bluntslide shuv-it out of the 12-stair handrail. The victory gave Ito her third career X Games gold and sixth career medal in just four X Games appearances. Known for her meticulous attention to both style and technical execution, Ito places as much emphasis on form as she does on progression when developing new tricks—a balance that has become a hallmark of her skating.

“I practice a lot to have a higher chance of landing my tricks. I’m really happy. Thank you, X Games,” said Ito.

Eighteen-year-old Paige Heyn (XC New York) earned silver after delivering a perfectly executed switch 50-50 on the 12-stair handrail. A product of Arizona's renowned skate scene, Heyn is recognized as one of the sport's most well-rounded skaters and among the first to consistently bring switch rail tricks into women's street competition, helping establish her as one of the discipline's top competitors.

Fourteen-year-old Ibuki Matsumoto (XC São Paulo) rounded out the podium with bronze, earning her second consecutive X Games medal in Women's Skateboard Street Best Trick. The rising Japanese star landed a kickflip frontside boardslide down the 12-stair handrail and continues to establish herself as one of the sport's brightest young talents.

MoonPay Women’s Skateboard Vert Final

Bringing the three-day action sports festival to a close, the MoonPay Women’s Skateboard Vert Final delivered a memorable finale as 11-year-old Mia Kretzer (XC LA) thrilled an energetic crowd with a standout run that showcased poise, confidence and remarkable talent beyond her years to earn the gold for her club. Kretzer was the youngest gold medalist at age nine and the youngest athlete drafted in the MoonPay X Games League this past March.

“I'm so excited. I'm so happy. I can't believe that I just won the gold medal. I just went and did my best and had everyone in the L.A. box supporting me, and I had everyone back home behind me. It was just so cool,” said Kretzer through joyful tears.”The trick that I'm most proud of is probably my seven doing it mid run for the first time was really cool!”

Defending gold medalist and seven-time X Games medalist Mizuho Hasegawa (XC Tokyo) snuck up behind in her last attempt to knock Bryce Wettstein out of podium contention to finish in second place. Asahi Kaihara earned her fourth X Games medal - a bronze

PORTLAND, OR (May 19, 2026) — Today announced the return of the Rockstar Energy Open, set to electrify downtown Portland, Oregon at Tom McCall Waterfront Park from August 14–16, 2026. Now in its third year, the three-day spectacle open to the public unites the next generation of skateboarding phenoms with world-class legends —bringing fans a high-impact weekend built to bring the Rockstar Energy Live Loud™ identity to life, where skateboarding, music and culture collide at full volume.

The 2026 event, which will feature Men’s and Women’s Park and Street competitions, builds on Rockstar Energy’s deep-rooted connection to skateboarding culture, transforming downtown Portland into a high-energy destination where progression, creativity and community take center stage.

A defining element of the Rockstar Energy Open is its Video Qualifying Series (VQS), a groundbreaking pathway that invites skateboarders from around the world to submit their best video parts for a chance to earn a coveted spot in Portland. By opening the door to global talent, the VQS creates a rare opportunity for rising stars to have the chance to compete alongside some of the sports most established names.

“The VQS gives up-and-coming skaters a real shot,” said Lazer Crawford, Rockstar athlete and the first-ever Men’s Street champion of the Rockstar Energy Open. “It’s not just another contest—you can come from anywhere, put your part out there, and suddenly you’re skating against the best in the world. That’s pretty epic.”

“From the skaters to the music to the city itself, this weekend is about going big, pushing limits and creating something that is truly outside the norm,” said Steve Mateus, Senior Director of Sports and Music at Rockstar Energy. “Portland has embraced this event in an incredible way, and we’re excited to come back for year three with an even bigger vision.”

Beyond the competition, fans can explore the festival village, a dynamic hub designed to extend the energy of the event beyond the course. From interactive installations and sponsor activations to local food vendors, beverage experiences, and live artist performances, the village offers an all-day extension that captures the spirit of skate culture and music in one place.

With its seamless blend of elite competition and live music, the Rockstar Energy Open continues to bring together a global community, both onsite and online. Additional details, including competition schedules, athlete lineup, music programming, and VQS submission deadlines, will be announced in the coming months.

All competitions will be livestreamed globally on The Platfrm (www.theplatfrm.com), giving fans everywhere a front-row seat to the action. General admission for the event is free to attend, with VIP ticket options available for those looking to elevate their on-site experience.

WORLD-CLASS ACTION SPORTS ATHLETE ROSTER SET FOR MOONPAY X GAMES SACRAMENTO 2026

Arisa Trew

Nearly 100 athletes. Multi-medal pursuits. Historic record chases. Generational rivalries.

The new era of competition begins with the debut of MoonPay X Games League.

SACRAMENTO, CA (May 11, 2026) – X Games today announced a powerhouse roster of nearly 100 invited athletes who will descend on Cal Expo for MoonPay X Games Sacramento 2026, June 26-28 – the debut summer event of the MoonPay X Games League (XGL).

Across skateboarding, BMX and Moto X, the event will deliver three days of elite competition and new team rivalries, with multiple records in reach and a field that blends all-time greats with action sport’s fastest-rising stars.

But Sacramento isn’t just hosting a competition — it’s delivering a full-scale festival experience, where world-class action sports athletes collide with live music and culture. Fans can expect high-energy performances from top headliners Kaskade, Mustard and Subtronics, transforming the weekend into one of the most dynamic stops on the summer event calendar.

“MoonPay X Games Sacramento 2026 marks a defining moment for us as we launch the X Games League and reimagine what action sports can be,” commented Jeremy Bloom, X Games CEO. “This isn’t just about competition — it’s about bringing together nearly 100 of the world’s best athletes, creating opportunities for multi-medal performances, and building a season-long format that elevates the stakes for both athletes and fans. Sacramento is the starting point for a new era, where progression, storytelling and team rivalries all come together on a global stage.”

TOP ATHLETES TO WATCH

Several of the most decorated athletes in X Games history arrive in Sacramento with milestone moments within reach. At the same time, a new generation of global stars are already reshaping record books.

·       Nyjah Huston (Skateboard), USA
The most decorated Skateboard Street athlete and 15-time gold medalist and 26 total medals, competing across multiple disciplines, with a chance to climb even higher on the all-time leaderboard.

·       Garrett Reynolds (BMX), USA
King of BMX Street and the most decorated BMX athlete in X Games history, leading the field with 16 gold medals and 24 total medals — and still adding to his legacy.

·       Arisa Trew (Skateboard), Australia
At just 16, Trew already owns eight gold medals — the most ever by a woman in summer X Games — and could challenge the all-time record in Sacramento.

·       Chloe Covell (Skateboard), Australia
Another 16-year-old phenom, medaling in eight of nine appearances and winning gold in her last five — one of the hottest streaks in X Games – not to mention the number one draft pick at the inaugural MoonPay X Games Summer Draft.

·       Gui Khury (Skateboard), Brazil
An X Games competitor since age 10, Khuri is a spotlight teen prodigy with nine gold medals, the most ever by a teenager, and 15 total medals overall, continuing to push progression in vert skateboarding.

·       Ryan Williams (BMX), Australia
One of the most versatile riders in the world, with four golds in his last eight appearances and 11 overall, a strong contender across multiple BMX events.

·       Logan Martin (BMX), Australia + Daniel Sandoval (BMX), USA
Both set to compete in four disciplines, giving them a historic shot at four gold medals in a single X Games — a feat never accomplished.

·       Vicki Golden (Moto X), USA

A trailblazer in motocross and 3-time X Games gold medalist — the first woman to compete in Moto X, the first to medal in Best Whip against men, and the only woman competing in Moto X in Sacramento.

HISTORIC STORYLINES

·       Multi-medal potential: Dozens of athletes competing in multiple events, opening the door for podium sweeps across disciplines

·       Rare gold sweep chase: Winning three golds in a single X Games has only happened three times ever — not in nearly 20 years, since Travis Pastrana at X Games Los Angeles 2006

·       Next-gen takeover: Teenage stars are already rewriting record books, including the youngest X Games competitor and X Games skateboard gold medalist Mia Kretzer, 11 years old

·       XGL debut: The first stop in a new team-based era, with Clubs from Los Angeles, New York, São Paulo and Tokyo battling for points toward the summer championship

“Every X Games pushes action sports to another level, but this one feels different,” said Nyjah Huston. “With the league format and so many athletes competing in multiple events, the pressure is higher and the opportunities are bigger, so I’m coming in focused on putting down my best runs and going for gold. The level right now is insane — you have to bring your absolute best if you want to be on that podium.”

Our young team riders showed up dressed to impress, each with their own personal style.

Big shout out to our team rider Mia Kretzer who wasn’t able to make it to the USA for this event but was drafted for XGL Team Los Angeles! Huge moment for this phenomenal 11 year old skater!!

Pro team rider, Minna Stess (USA), arrived fresh off her podium finish in Brazil at the World Championships in Women’s Park, and looked stunning in a Prada sweater, black jeans, a silk tie as a belt, and silver Converse - mixing the fashion x skater vibe perfectly!

Huge thanks to X Games for having us cover the red carpet!

Knowing that this league has equal amounts of women and men competing is another thing we love about it. Watching Chloe Covell selected as the first draft pick was a huge moment and set the precedent that we were watching something very different in action sports than what we have seen in the past.

On March 12, 2026 History was made at Cosm Los Angeles as the inaugural 2026 MoonPay X Games League (XGL) Draft brought together the world’s best skateboard and BMX athletes and more than 500 guests to witness the first X Games draft, marking a new era in action sports.

With a limited number of ticketed guests inside the immersive venue, the excitement kicked off as XC New York General Manager Steve Rodriguez selected sixteen-year-old Australian skateboard phenom Chloe Covell as the number one draft pick, XC Los Angeles General manager Sharalee “Haze” Hazen followed by choosing 17-time X Games skateboard medalist and Southern California native Tom Schaar. XC Tokyo General Manager Harumi Suzuki then selected record-setting, eight-time X Games gold medalist skateboarder Arisa Trew of Australia. Rounding out the first round, XC São Paulo General Manager Bob Burnquist chose Brazilian skater Gui Khury, the most medaled teenager in X Games history, with 15, and counting–officially forming the foundation of the four inaugural X Games Clubs.

When asked about what it was like to be the first athlete drafted to the MoonPay X Games League, Covell responded,

“I’m like...loss of words. I’m so excited. I was really nervous, but I’m super grateful. I definitely didn’t think this was going to happen, but it’s amazing. It definitely shows all of the hard work I put in. I’m looking forward to having fun with my team and doing my best.”

The draft streamed live worldwide across the ESPN App in the United States and globally on The Roku Sports Channel, YouTube, Kick, and the X Games TV FAST Channel on Amazon, giving fans around the world a front-row seat as teams were built in real time.

Held inside state-of-the-art Cosm Los Angeles, the event blended sports, entertainment and culture in a setting designed to bring fans closer to the action than ever before. The venue’s massive wraparound LED dome and cinematic production created a one-of-a-kind stage as the league’s four clubs assembled their rosters live in front of the crowd.

“This is a defining moment for action sports,” said Jeremy Bloom. “For three decades, X Games has celebrated the world’s best athletes through iconic competitions. Tonight, we’ve taken the next step—creating teams, building rivalries, and launching a league that will connect fans with these athletes year-round. Seeing the energy inside Cosm tonight showed exactly why the MoonPay X Games League is going to change the game.”

The MoonPay X Games League introduces a new chapter for the iconic brand with a year-round, global, team-based format that expands beyond traditional standalone X Games events. Each X Games Club will feature 10 athletes — five men and five women — selected through the draft to compete together across the inaugural season.

The four clubs representing global cities that will anchor the league’s debut season are:

  • XC Los Angeles

  • XC New York

  • XC São Paulo

  • XC Tokyo

During the draft, the four club general managers — Sharalee “Haze” Hazen (XC Los Angeles), Steve Rodriguez (XC New York), Bob Burnquist (XC São Paulo), and Harumi Suzuki (XC Tokyo) — selected 40 athletes representing eight different countries, ages 11-35, from a pool of more than 180 who opted into the draft, completing five rounds of selections and forming the inaugural team rosters. Athletes across skateboarding and BMX disciplines participated in the historic moment, including global stars such as Tom Schaar, Hannah Roberts, Arisa Trew, Kevin Peraza, and Nyjah Huston.

The draft was presented by league title partner MoonPay, with additional support from league founding partner Monster Energy and league partners Stake, Exodus, 805 Beer, High Noon, and Kraken Rum.

As part of the draft-night experience, league partner Exodus introduced a first-of-its-kind activation bringing crypto signing bonuses to action sports. Drafted athletes received signing bonuses delivered through Exodus’ self-custody crypto wallet platform, marking one of the first integrations of digital asset compensation into a professional sports league draft. The activation highlighted how the MoonPay X Games League is blending sport, technology, and culture while expanding earning opportunities for athletes in the new team-based format.

Following the draft, athletes, partners, and guests celebrated on the rooftop of Cosm overlooking Hollywood Park, where Grammy-winning producer BNYX delivered a surprise performance that capped off the monumental evening.

The inaugural MoonPay X Games League Summer Season begins June 26 in Sacramento, followed by X Games Japan on July 4–5, before culminating with the league championship July 24–26 inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The team with the highest cumulative score across the season will be crowned the first MoonPay X Games League champion.

The World Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil, were a total nail-biter. From rain delays to who moved on during the women’s park quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals, it was one to watch!

Mazel Paris

Team rider Mazel Paris was a standout during the women’s park qualifier - at just 12 years old, Mazel was leading the charge and in the number one position until almost the end of the women’s park qualifier! Such a huge achievement to make it to the quarter-finals and be in the higher scoring group of women. The talent is getting younger and younger!

Minna Stess

Team rider Minna Stess pushed hard, making it through the open qualifiers, to the semi’s, and then into the finals -and that’s not all! Minna had an epic second run and ended up landing on the podium, taking home 3rd for the USA.

Rain delays during the finals wreaked havoc on the women’s park event. After one run each and partway through the second set of runs (with only Sky and Arisa to go), the rain started (again). The girls started a game of Uno to pass the time while waiting to find out whether the event would continue.

Sky Brown

The “squeegee team” did an excellent job of drying the park quickly and Arisa and Sky were able to get their runs in. At this point, Sky was still in 1st place, and after her second run, Arisa was in 4th. But then the rain started again. The officials decided to call it and use the scores from the 2nd runs as the finals.

This meant that Sky Brown was in 1st, Mizuho Hasegawa took 2nd, and Minna Stess grabbed 3rd.

Congrats to all the women for showing up and pushing it further than last year!

Huge thanks to Lauren Brooke for sharing her amazing photos with us!
